What works: The goal isn’t to solve everything. It’s to show up as someone worth talking to. Put your phone face-down. Turn your whole body toward them, not just your head. Say something like “It seems like you’re feeling frustrated because of what happened at school.” Then wait. Don’t fill the silence with questions or solutions.
